If the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup was trying to find a way to stretch its most meaningful part of the season through another month, with the NFL and college football on the horizon, let's say the first tournament was mission accomplished.

This season has been more wide open than any in recent history -- whether it's been the four different major winners, a lack of a favorite going into the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup or a clear candidate for Player of the Year.

Could Luke Donald win the FedExCup? Sure. It would be another addition to one of the most diverse resumes on the PGA TOUR.

PARAMUS, N.J. -- Matt Kuchar stormed back on Sunday with a 5-under 66 to finish The Barclays tied with third-round leader Martin Laird at 12-under-par. Kuchar then birdied the first extra hole to win his third PGA TOUR title, and second in as many years in a playoff (victory over Vaughn Taylor at the 2009 Turning Stone Resort Championship). It was the 15th playoff in the 44-year history of The Barclays.
